ive found it incredibly difficult to use all three pieces of software ive paid for:

Aldus Pagemaker: some dust or a deguass mucked up one of the install floppies, so had to resort to a [k] version

Logic Audio: only one USB port on notebook, which already was needed for MIDI. so couldnt use the dongle. cracked version again..

Samplitude: cd is scratched, and various important features like the authorization process, drag'n'drop, and nondestructive mp3/flac handling doesnt work properly in WINE, and i have tried many times unsuccessfully to even install windows to be able to use this properly, which the install always fails on either 'this partition/disk is unsuitable for installing windows' , or it installs then the boot loader freaks out, or some weird nondescript exception during install occurs etc. so far ive tried xp32, xp64, and vista64 and have given up entirely..and run out of blank DVDs.

so, i use free beacuse its the only thing that actually works :)
