AFAICT there are no particular disadvantages if you are using the RT options 
in the mainline kernel. If you have applied Ingo Molnar's patch there are 
known tradeoffs with stability and network speed, in which case you may be 
better off using a separate set-up for office work. I'm not sure about the 
security implications.
