a quick search turned out:

  
TrekStor i.Beat censo 1 GB is the cheapest (here in germany) for € 25.-
+ € 5,- s+h

you might search ebay for the term "mp4 player"
there appears a bulk of "ipod nano clones" (with tft and LiION battery)
in various flavors. the sellers say that they support ogg and linux (so
they will work as usb mass storage devices)

They say they use an samsung chipset, but i think this only refers to
the flash memory. i guess that the actual chipset is from actions
semiconductor (this is the cheapest mp3 player chipset around)

a price for an 2gb is € 33.- + € 10.- S+H
most retailers send this things directly from hong-kong, but there is at
least one shop that sends this stuff from within germany.
