I didn't mean to discourage you.  I my goal was to provide
you with a big list that you could hunt through.  After that
ordeal, you will very likely have an excellent list of CLI sound
applications.  I know it's a lot of work.  But, your goal is a
great one.  I don't know if that http://linux-sound.org/ page is
maintained anymore, or who might be doing that.  But, it'd be a
great thing if you could get your work added to that page as a
"CLI apps" link off of the top page.
