Yes that does make sense. That would still mean that I would not be
able to run apps compiled for different versions of jack on the same
jack server, but presumably if I were to compile a second copy of
those apps I want to use with the home-rolled version of jack then I
could also run those from a shell script too. Complicated, but
certainly preferable than getting in a mess with your package manager.
