That is why Sidux has the smxi script for upgrades. The developers keep 
a constant watch on upgrades and smxi will put a hold on anything that 
breaks, thereby stabilizing the unstable. I highly recommend using smxi 
rather than standard upgrade/dist-upgrade for Sidux.  It's probably the 
best feature of Sidux.
I used Sidux for some time on EeePC , and updated with smxi regularly 
with no issues. Recently changed to Debian-Eee for it's specific 
hardware support, but Sidux is great on my no.2 desktop PC. I'd use it 
on no.1 desktop (Debian testing), but can't bear the thought of re-doing 
2 years of tweaks and config. :) It multi-boots Studio64 for serious 
audio work and Sidux for checking out bleeding-edge packages. The main  
Debian testing runs Jack and audio apps nicely too, but not RT.
