+1 for newbies stuff.

I'm a newbie and I initially joined this list to get help setting up my 
Phonic Helix Board 24 with ffado and Linux. I didn't really have any 
interest in MIDI or synthesisers, but since then I've read loads on this 
list about that and I'm starting to get interested. But I don't know 
where to begin, what I would need, etc. I know there are loads of howtos 
on various websites, but a video guide would be great - so much more 
absorbing and easier to follow.

How about quick introductions to some of the more popular notation 
editors? I'm still using a Windows notation editor under wine rather 
than making the jump to a native Linux one, as they all seem to involve 
a fairly steep learning curve.
