Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't help me.

I got sound in tuxguitar (also a java app) connected to 'midi through 
port-0 [14:0] ' of my maudio audiophile soundcard... but I can't connect 
Impro-Visor to that port-... it doesn't show up in the app.

It's also possible to get sound from tuxguitar, when I connect it to 
timidity, but also timidity doesn't show up  in Imro-Visor....
