Thanks to Paul for explaining to me how to invoke "-X seq", and the help for the ALSA backend (duh). I now can run AZR-3, with my volume pedal, and do smears all up and down the keyboard, with out any stuck notes. This did not work with a2jmidid or alsaseq2jackmidi, but it works with -X.
