One of the nice aspects of the concours is that you can hear
the same new piece being interpreted by twelve musicians, all
of then usually quite good ones.

When I was much younger the entire final round (6 evenings)
was transmitted live on TV. I'm surprised they still do that. 
I did the sound engineering for two of the violin editions.
Always hoped I could do the piano years as well, but in very
typical Belgian fashion the job alternated between BRT (flemish,
where I was working) and RTB (the french language broadcaster).
Back then I didn't like the sound of the hall, it was one of
the few where I'd use artificial reverb rather than the natural
one. Things changed after it was restaured some years ago
(removing a lot of carpet and bringing back the original
hardwood floor).
