i actually doubt that you get better performance with wine.
all of wines synchronisation primitives (except critical sections, iirc)
are serialized through wineserver. and involve heavy ipc. 

wine focusses on correctness and modeling everything using posix.
it probably depends on where your bottlenecks are.
