jack2 by itself doesn't do this. it will happen if the combination of
jack2, dbus, pulseaudio are all set up correctly.

you don't need jack2 for this either, there are quite elegant schemes
to get pulse out of the way no matter which version of JACK is used.
the key point is that they all require some system configuration (or
checking system configuration) and i didn't want to suggest that to
someone who is clearly a newcomer to this environment. except that
then i did anyway :(

actually, Pulse can't do low latency by any reasonable definition of
that term :)
