Nah, it's pretty much the same as screen with some additional goodies.

In tmux it's

ctrl-a [

Then you can use the cursor keys or pgup/pgdown to scroll back up.
Press esc to return to the prompt.

I forgot the key combo in screen. It's hidden as "copying" or
something in the screen/tmux-help..
