So what do they use in place of mics and speakers? Or voices and vibrating 
strings/skins/etc. for that matter. I am guessing it is a power bill 
thing. Class D amps (which are not truely digital anyway) can use much 
less power than B. They all have analog pathways though. There is really 
no such thing as digital audio gear in terms of preamp, power amp Class D 
amps are just switching power supplies that have an analog feedback loop. 
It is possible to create the digital control for class D but if there is 
no correction via analog paths, the audio is not the same as what goes in.
