That's beyond question. It's questionable if Ardour is a good tool for
somebody using it 10 to 15 hours a year, when this person already
tested Ardour and is asking for alternative DAWs.

Shortened questioning: Is latency compensation needed? Are mixer
subgroups needed? If not Qtractor audio might be able to replace
Ardour, assuming Qtractor should run stable, what it usually does. It
should be possible to find out what makes Qtractor unstable when the OP
is using it.

After balancing pros and cons again, perhaps an open source code and
free as in beer are less important, than getting a more intuitive GUI
that is much easier to use for somebody who doesn't spend more than 15
hours a year with using it.
