[LAU] mididings alternative for ubuntu studio 20.04 and newer?

I think I read somewhere that support got dropped because the source is
unmaintained.
it seems to be true https://github.com/dsacre/mididings , last commit is 5y
ago.

https://github.com/rralf/mididings seems a hopeful pickup. I managed to
pick up all the dependencies (optional too) and I try to build
During link stage I get

    /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lboost_python

which is weird because I do have the latest version of libboost-python-dev
installed.
Anyway, looking into it (if someone has any idea let me know)
