Point well taken. OTOH, Linux, and subsequently Lao is also about community.

I am not trying to "force" anything. I merely suggested this to see what the
community feels like. Linuxaudio.org never coerced anyone or anything to do
contrary to what they believe in and this is not going to change (at least
not under my watch). So, if you and/or others in the consortium feel this
way, so be it.
There is still a possibility that even under such circumstances we could
develop a theme/style framework which would be offered to subdomains to
adopt if they so desired (or wanted to have such a resource at their
disposal for the sake of easier website deployment), but this will not be
required... In other words, you need not worry about a hostile takeover or
any other move reminiscent of corporate backstabbing.
Best wishes,
Ico
Dear Colleagues, Friends, and Family,
I am truly excited to share with you a joyous occasion. This past Wednesday,
at 5:40pm, I became a father of my second boy, Lucian Bukvic. Lucian was
born in Roanoke, VA and I am very relieved to say that both baby and mommy
are doing fine. In the meantime, daddy is hopelessly scanning store shelves
for "sleep-in-a-can" in an attempt to obtain a couple of kegs of this
elusive drink.
Lucian was not immediately available to comment on this latest development,
but if you would like to contact Lucian directly, please e-mail him at
lucian(a)bukvic.net ;-)
Best wishes,

Hi Jan,
> It doesn't work for me, here in .nl yet.
Please try http://portal.linuxaudio.org/ now. I have uploaded a fresh
copy of the data to the DNS and it seems to be working. I think there
must have been some corruption last time - sorry about that.
Cheers!
Daniel
Hello folks,
I guess the title says it all. In an ongoing effort to consolidate online
Linux audio resources, Linuxaudio.org has launched a new portal which
encapsulates all sub-domains hosted under the linuxaudio.org umbrella.
Should you happen to have any questions, concerns, and most importantly
suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,

I think it would be nice if we got someone "commissioned" to make consistent
set of icons (and subsequently logos) for most prominent audio apps (and
ultimately all which are in a need of this). Naturally, funds are a touchy
subject in this case, but if someone with drawing skills is interested in
this I think it would be to a great benefit of the entire community.
Best wishes,
Ico
As some of you may have already noticed, ladspa.linuxaudio.org is still
under construction which leads me to believe that we are in a need of
another maintainer/webmaster. If interested, please contact me asap.
Many thanks!

Greetings all,
It is my pleasure to announce that the linuxaudio.org and its subsites have
been successfully ported onto a new server with no observable downtime.
Our new server provides RAID 1, 120GB of disk space, as well as UPS
protection. The IP address and therefore DNS should remain intact. MySQL
databases have been also ported.
A couple of changes have occurred due to this transfer, however:
1) For the sake of heightened security, the server is only accessible via
ssh and sftp (ftp does not work any more)
2) IMPORTANT! During the porting some of the account passwords had to be
unfortunately obliterated. Therefore, all of the current maintainers of the
existing subdomains as well as users of the download.linuxaudio.org mirror,
could you please contact me ASAP, so that I can provide you with the new
temporary password? Once you have obtained the new password, please change
it ASAP (you do not need to inform me of what the new password is).
3) For Tim and Patrick, your user account logins have remained the same as
your mysql logins (since mysql transfer has survived preservation of the
account values).
Should you happen to have any additional questions and/or concerns, please
do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,

Hello all,
I have made a mini 250 pixel wide version of the linuxaudio.org logo for
a link on the 64 Studio homepage; you can get it here:
http://64studio.com/pics/linuxaudio-250.png
This is somewhere between the 'normal' and 'compact' sizes already
available.
I've added a link using html similar to:
<a href="http://linuxaudio.org"><img src="linuxaudio-250.png"
alt="linuxaudio.org"></a>
<br>
<br>
'Project X' is a member of the
<a href="http://linuxaudio.org">linuxaudio.org</a> consortium.
<br>
if that's useful for anyone to copy and paste - it only takes a minute :-)
Cheers!
Daniel
Hi all,
Just wanted to let everyone know that the server and accounts are going to
be moved in the next 48-72 hours. During this time we'll do a freeze on
account access in order to prevent any alterations to the file system in
order to ensure accurate syncing of the old and new server data. I sincerely
apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
The porting of the files will begin tomorrow afternoon (2pm-ish EST) and
will continue "until it's done." ;-) (likely no more than 48 hours)
The new server will give us better back-up, more bandwidth, and more space.
As a result of the move to a dedicated server, we will have to obliterate
account passwords, so I will issue new temporary ones to all who are
maintaining current sites. We will also streamline user names according to
the sub-sites (i.e. lad maintainer will have a login "lad" etc.). This will
enable us to easily reassign duties when such an action becomes necessary.
I will do my best to seamlessly port the existing MySQL database, but just
to be on the safe side I will also generate backups as well as keep the old
server unscathed until we know that everything is in working order on the
new server.
Again, I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
If you do have any urgent updates to do, please do them before 2pm EST
tomorrow (Wednesday, August 30, 2006).
Please note that the transition will be seamless and we do not expect any
downtime as a result of this (minus the database stuff where we'll have to
prevent any further changes in order to ensure accurate data transfer).
Many thanks for your patience and understanding!
