Dear Linuxaudio.org members,
It is my great pleasure to announce immediate availability of the new logo
and its variations. Once again, big thanks go to Thorsten Wilms who put up
with most if not all of my picky remarks and criticisms ;-).
At any rate, without further ado, for more info as well as press release
please visit:

Where to from here?
-------------------
With the logo project now complete, new members will be presented to the
board and hopefully announced within a week. Following ratification of our
new members, we will focus on creation and adoption of the articles of
incorporation and bylaws in preparation for the upcoming incorporation.
Finally, as of right now, the general membership sentiment suggests that we
should incorporate in US. Personally, although I have been very much
indifferent towards this topic, based upon the recent discussion as well as
assessment of viable options and alternatives, US right now seems IMHO to be
the most logical choice. Please note that this in and of itself should not
preclude creation of other branches in due time.

Greetings all,
Following a very exciting LAC conference, please allow me to extend an
invitation to all Linuxaudio.org members to please forward the relevant
summary of the latest developments in the area of their specific projects
and/or creative endeavors. It is our aim to supply monthly updates regarding
our members' activities and with it provide additional exposure as well as
up-to-date information.
For this purpose a single paragraph should suffice.
Please allow me to emphasize that your cooperation in this matter is
instrumental and will determine its long-term success. Therefore your
participation will be most appreciated!
Best wishes,

Hi Thorsten,
Great job! IMHO, I think that we should exert more control over how the logo
will be integrated, and in this case my suggestion is to provide some
spacing around the logo as well as to stylize the edges so that we don't
have a bland square. In other words, I think we should integrate the white
logo border into the logo itself (i.e. something more like the frame
suggested in my e-mail). This will ensure more professional look in those
situations where a white background becomes necessary (and this will likely
be in a majority of places). Please see attached mock-up for a possible
solution (perhaps we should do the same for the large logo?).
Apart from the previous point, I am also thinking that we should make sure
that penguin's belly is always white as this is also a part of the
identifying trademark. As a matter of fact, I am not sure whether we should
allow the logo in any other background color than white...
Best wishes,
Ico

Apart from the aforementioned call, please note the following updates:
1) We will resume our discussion of the much debated topic of the "country
of incorporation." Namely, following our initial debate, I would like to
open the floor for concrete proposals. Your proposal should consist of the
following:
*Proposed Country
*List of at least 3 dedicated and more importantly *accountable* citizens or
permanent residents of that country who will be willing to take on important
functions (namely treasurer, secretary, and an assistant director) and who
are either members or are willing to become members of the consortium
*Other pertinent reasons
2) We are *still* looking for a dedicated webmaster and a site sys-admin. If
anyone wishes to help out in this important aspect of our growing
organization, please contact me asap.
3) I am currently looking into recruiting up to two writers who will provide
either bi-weekly or monthly content/reviews/pr materials. If you are
interested in this type of outreach and have good English/writing skills,
please contact me asap.
4) We have a few new memberships pending which I should be announcing by the
end of the next week.
5) Finally, Thorsten has been busy putting finishing touches on our branding
logo and its smaller version. He should be posting the new version on this
list shortly.

Thanks :)
It's still based on the Nimbus, but customized in several
iterations. While I was worried about it being to technical
and hard, too much contrast to the penguin, Ico wasn't ;)

Greetings all,
With LAC less than 24 hours away, I wanted to remind everyone that, as per
Daniel's suggestion, we will have a consortium dinner/meeting on Saturday
evening following the last presentation which begins at 5pm (so tentatively
it should begin at 6pm). We will all meet-up after the presentation in the
main lobby downstairs to figure out:
1) how many of us are present
2) where we'll have the meetin/go to eat
and subsequently
3) what agenda we'll be able to tackle in our capacity
If at all possible, I'll try to present the agenda prior to Saturday evening
which should allow all the members to at least e-mail their suggestions
prior to the meeting. I would especially urge board members to chip in their
thoughts as we need at least a virtual quorum in order to make some pending
decisions which will allow us to move forward with our agenda.
My sincere apologies to all who won't be able to make it to this meeting,
but unfortunately the schedule seems to be pretty dense and Friday afternoon
has proven to be unfortunately spotty in terms of availability.
Hope to see you there!

Greetings all,
Based upon the recent vote by the management, it is my pleasure to announce
a winner. Our new official logo will be one that Thorsten designed. It can
be viewed at the following link:
http://affenbande.org/~thorwil/wordpress/2006/04/16/linuxaudioorg-logo-7/
We will now move onto the next step to integrate the penguin with the
already existing textual logo.
I would like to thank everyone for their feedback, especially to Patrick and
Thorsten for their time and talent.
Please stay tuned for more updates.
Regarding the Linuxaudio.org site, we are in a dire need of a webmaster (or
to lessen a burden 2 co-webmasters). If there is anyone who can assist with
this please contact me immediately.
Thank you very much!

Hi,
I have recently had the task of updating my 2 year old system. It has
become obvious that there is no central location for all ladspa plugins
or even a package that installs all known plugins.
I am proposing that a new portal is created as part of the LAO web system.
I am also volunteering my time to create such a portal and to at least
instigate the packaging of all known plugins into a simple to install
tarball.
I already have access to at least part of the LAO website so this is
simply a message to get ideas or opinions for the new portal.
Cheers.
