yes, but this version (4.23) is way too old (5 years min) and unsupported.
We are talking here of Csound 5, which is a different beast (in fact
it's a library now...).
Up until now there were only unofficial (and probably dodgy) Csound 5
debian packages. Now with Felipe onboard we have an official and up-to-date
one. Of course, Csound 5 is offered under yum for fedora (from fedora and
planetccrma, which is probably the most up-to-date). I am also in the
process
of becoming a fedora package maintainer, so I hope I'll be able to keep
fedora
updated too (we'll see).

Relaying some great news from Felipe Sateler, on
debian csound packaging.
Felipe has been working hard to create an official debian package for
Csound
and it seems like he succeeded.

So, it's official now. I have just received the ACCEPTED mail from the
ftpmasters, which means that csound should be available in your local
debian
mirror real soon now (ie, as soon as it gets autobuilt and the mirrors
synched).
Ubuntu will follow soon too.
I'm using Debian Sid, and got this from somehwere:
csound 1:4.23f13-1.1
Last changelog entry for this package is Tue, 20 Mar 2007 15:55:27 -0700,
so it looks like it's been in Debian for over a year now.
Glad it's been updated though. I'll have to try it out again.
