[linux-audio-user] midi controller (x-session) with jack rack

Hi all! i just got an x-session usb midi controller i
finally bought it because i saw it had midi in and out
,  so i thought i could get it working in linux (and
because recently i was experimenting with jack-rack
and also noticed by accident that if you right-click a
knob you can map a midi controller,  have anybody done
this ? is it as easy as that? ) so i have only tested
it under ugly windows with the demo soft (it includes
ugly versions of Live and Arturia Storm which goes
directly to the trash bin...) anyway it worked great!!
i recommend this experience to any one used to work
with soft synthesizers,  its an outrageous experience
being able to control everything with your hands (last
week i used jack rack with xmms and loaded a prodigy
mp3 of the new album, connected to jackrack and loaded
up several effects there,  a reverse delay ,  the dj
flanger and a simple non interpolating delay with that
setup i started to improvise in realtime awesome!
prodigy's music has tons of breaks you could use to
start the flanger or combine it with the reverse delay
creating an incredible effect similar to a scratch
(the program's got wet / dry so you can use this to
simulate the beat juggle of a turntable the dry is
when you scratch forward and the wet is when you
scratch backwards) this stuff is just amazing! also
with the delay you can create unbelievable retrigger
effects just as the ones used in drum n bass or other
music (bt calls it stutter editing i think...)

so im eager to CONTROL jack-rack effects with my hands
!!! i cant imagine how that would be,  FX utopia...
the x-session's got a x-fader, for instance you could
control the wet/dry with it !!! so imagine,  i could
make beat excellent live scratch / beat juggling
effects with just pulling the x-fader from side to
side...


the controller sends midi-cc messages (so i also can
control some specimen sampler parameters with this
thing! thanks pete!) the problem is that ive only used
it via usb with my fathers win box.  I would like to
use it via usb with linux anybody knows something
about this ??? ive heard recently that someone bought
an evolution usb keyboard,  i think it would be
similar...

anyway if that couldnt be done ,  i could load it up
via midi ,  the problem here is that there's no ac
adapter included (i should buy it later) but i would
like to connect it usb... because of portability also,
 being able to carry the controller in a bag with my
laptop and just connect it usb is going to be
outrageous man! ... tweaking jack-rack's filters in
the Metro is going to be so much fun...

anyway i would like to thank everybody in this
community for making these brutal audio tools.
