Alas, I had to sell the car almost 10 years ago, and I've long since lost touch with the local Alfa owner's club. IIRC, back in the day, there was an Alfa mailing list and a webring, so maybe you could jump onto one of those lists and find someone with a classic Alfa who could sample it for you.

I recall stumbling across samples of a Ferrarri winding out, which is a great sound too.
