hello,
i have problems to configure jack :
i tried deleteing ./.config/jack/ folder but when i modify config, jack
shows errors.
so i tried to setup my saffire pro 24 (firewire) , and i got this error :
can you please help me ?

The error message doesn't seem to have made it into your post. Could you
send it through? Could you also describe how you are starting jackd and
what options you are using.
With the Saffire Pro 24 there are two ways to get audio into and out of the
device (what I'll call "streaming" here): one is jack-specific and the
other
is not.
1. Use FFADO's user-space streaming driver. This is accessed using jackd's
"firewire" backend. If running jackd from the command line you would do
something like:
jackd -d firewire -p512 -n3
You will then be able to use your Saffire in any program which can
connect to JACK.
To use this method, you may have to blacklist the alternative
kernel-based streaming driver, snd-dice. For testing you can manually
remove the module:
rmmod snd-dice
To make this permanent, add the line
blacklist snd-dice
to a file under /etc/modprobe.d/ or your distribution's equivalent.
2. Use the kernel streaming driver. This comes from the ALSA project and
relies on the snd-dice kernel driver which should be loaded by default
on current distributions. To use this method with jack:
jackd -d alsa ...
where "..." are any other options you might need in your situation. If
used this way, the saffire will be usable under programs which can use
JACK. Being an ALSA driver, your Saffire will also be accessible to
programs which can use ALSA drivers directly at times when jackd is
not running.
Depending on your system setup, your pulseaudio configuration may or may
not need adjusting so your audio programs can access the saffire in the
way they need to.

how i can do to got both Jack audio in my daw, and pulse audio in jack ?
i installed (i think) the jack-pulseaudio thing...
but at reboot it does not show in pavucontrol,

Are you intending to use the Saffire to produce the system sound, or do you
have another soundcard that you are using for that? It appears that you
wish to send system sounds through the Saffire. Please confirm to the list.
System sounds are delivered though pulseaudio via ALSA devices. Your system
is now configured to use the Saffire only via jackd. If you intend your
system sounds to go through the Saffire then this would be the reason you no
longer hear them.

There are several options I believe. For example, I understand there is a
pulseaudio module which can be used to direct pulseaudio into jack but there
are other approaches too. However, I do not run pulseaudio on my systems
which utilise jack so I have no experience in this area, nor do I know
which approach works best. I'm sure others on the list will be able to help
with this.
If you don't receive many responses in this thread, perhaps post a new
message to the list with a revised subject: something like "sending
pulseaudio audio into jack", or "playing system sounds via jack". Some
people who have no experience with firewire may be understandably skipping
this thread on the basis that it relates to firewire. That issue is now
solved; the system sounds issue is a new topic so you would be justified in
posting a fresh message about it.

IMHO the "easiest" way to get Jackd and PA to cooperate is to install Cadence,
configure Jackd
with Cadence and use Cadence to start the PA<->Jack bridge (you can configure it to
bring up
the brige at startup). Cadence also alows you to bridge Alsa to JAckd - very convenient.

ok all working perfect ;D
voilà what i done :
1- blacklisted snd-dice
2- installed cadence from kxsutdio repo. (dunno how to install all kxstudio
soft+plugs through....)
3- removed auto-jack and cadense-system-startup in "start at login" in
preferences...
4- added a custom auto-start like this :
"cadence-session-start --system-start --minimized"
...
all working as intended.

I use the following script for it (I call it pulsejack):
Called without arguments, it tries to connect to an already running
jack, otherwise it starts one with the given arguments.

This log file message indicates that you are using the FFADO streaming
driver, but something prevented it from starting. One common cause is
having the snd-dice kernel driver loaded when starting FFADO.
For testing, try unloading the snd-dice kernel module as root before trying
to start jackd:
rmmod snd-dice
After doing this, please try starting jackd again. If you still have
errors, please:
* Set the jackd *driver* verbosity level to 6 and capture the output. I
recommend you use the following command:
jackd -dfirewire -p512 -n3 -v6 >& /tmp/jackd.log
* Post the content of the /tmp/jackd.log file to me. This will need to be
off-list since it is likely to be too big for the list.

So I understand from this that you first tried using ALSA and this worked.
Then you tried "firewire" and it did not. If the snd-dice kernel module is
installed you would be able to use your saffire using the jackd "alsa"
driver. You would need to know which ALSA device the Saffire was associated
with so you can pass this onto jackd, but it should be possible.
what is the cause ?
The error when running with jackd's "firewire" driver is possibly due to
the
snd-dice kernel driver being loaded.
how to fix ?
Unload the snd-dice kernel module as described above.
If this fixes the error, you can made the fix permanent by blacklisting the
snd-dice driver as I mentioned in my earlier post.
