Zita-resampler is a C++ library for sample rate conversion of
audio signals. Full documentation is available in HTML format,
see the 'docs' directory.
Release 1.1.0 (26/01/2012)

* VResampler class added - provides arbitrary and variable
resampling ratio, see docs.
* This release is NOT binary compatible with previous ones
(0.x.x) and requires recompilation of applications using it.
* This release is API compatible with the previous one. But if
you are using the now deprecated filtlen() function please
replace this by inpsize() which provides the same information.
* The inpdist() function has been added, see docs.
* The ratio_a() and ratio_b() calls have been removed, if this
is a problem (I'd be surprised) they can be added again.
* The include files are now in $PREFIX/include/zita-resampler/.
Please DO remove any old ones manually after installing this
version. Compiling using the old includes and linking with
the new library will create havoc.
* #defines and static functions are added for compile time and
run time version checking, see resampler-table.h.
Zita-alsa-pcmi is the successor of clalsadrv. It provides easy access
to ALSA PCM devices, taking care of the many functions required to
open, initialise and use a hw: device in mmap mode, and providing
floating point audio data.

* This release is almost API compatible with clalsadrv-2.x.x.
The only changes your source code will need are:
- Change the include file.
- Change the type of any objects defined by the library.
- Replace calls to stat() by state().
- If you want error reporting on stderr, add an optional
parameter to the constructor. See include file for details.
* Added support for big-endian PCM formats.
* Added support for reading and writing interleaved user buffers.
* Error messages on stderr can be selectively enabled. If an app
is compiled without them, they can be re-enabled at runtime by
defining the environment variable ZITA_ALSA_PCMI_DEBUG, so they
are now by default off. See source code for details.
* Two simple demo programs are provided, one of them is the ALSA
version of jack_delay. Complete documentation will follow later.
The clalsadrv lib will remain available for some time, but any
new releases of JAAA and JAPA will switch to the new one. Patches
for AMS are being prepared.
Both libraries have been updated mainly to provide the necessary
functionality for two new apps: zita-a2j and zita-j2a. These allow
to add ALSA hw: devices as a Jack client, same as the alsa-in and
alsa-out clients that come with Jack. To see why I wanted something
to replace those, have a look at

Both apps still need some cosmetics but they are in a working state.
I'd want some more testing before they are released. If interested

Hello!
LMMS's Trippleoscillator is one of my favourite instruments on Linux, but
LMMS isn't my favourite pick of production tool. I've looked around and
noticed that it's only availible internally in LMMS, which poses some
difficulties since LMMS (to my knowledge) cannot be synced with jack-clock
and thus my favourite midi-tools. This is a problem for automating
filters/other parameters etc.
My question is, quite simply, since LMMS is FLOSS, would making
Trippleoscilator + perhaps other instruments in LMMS into plugins
(lv2/linuxVST) be a realistic possibility? Bear with me, I'm no developer
but merely a musician, so I really don't know what I'm asking/talking
about. But I have a firm belief that a plugin-version of these instruments,
usable in for example Ardour3 when that arrives, would make a great
addition to the Linux-musician community.
(ps. Is there anything similar already existing perhaps? ds.)

Hi, has some got PolyPitch compiled on linux? It complaining that
SCWorld_Allocator is missing. I've installed SuperCollider 3.4 on ubuntu
oneiric.

For those who have PyQt4 for Python3 installed:
I have a software, a Music Notation Editor, that can start in a one-liner and I need to find a bug that only occurs on some systems.

This will download and run my software Laborejo as normal user without installing anything*. The only dependency is pyqt and git to download it
You will see 5 lines and a symbol. The symbol must be perfectly alingned within the five lines (one pixel above can be tolerated). It should look like this: http://www.wargsang.de/pyqt-bug-report.jpg
Do you see that symbol shifted up or down or is it correct?
Could you please answer me with the following information attached: Your graphic driver (type ("ati, nvidia, intel" etc. and closed or open source?) and desktop enviroment/window manager (Gnome, KDE, xfce, i3 etc.). If you want to add more information like qt version or X-Server it would be nice as well. Everything display related helps:
I believe closed nvidia drivers will shift the symbol. I tested it myself on ati and intel graphics, both 32 and 64 bit and it looked good, both on Linux and Windows. Other users with ati and intel GPU's had no problem. But two persons with an nvidia card had the wrong display.

I've just received a notice from the Linux Journal that they will no
longer be running my monthly articles. I know that some people on this
list have enjoyed reading them, but alas, all things must end. I've been
invited to contribute full-length articles to the digital edition, which
I will do, but those articles will be available only to subscribers.
I have given some thought to collecting all my LJ articles to date (12+
years worth) and posting updated versions at linux-sound.org. However,
the work is non-trivial - it takes considerable time to research and
write those articles - and I have bills to pay. Other work for hire will
necessarily take precedence, meaning I'll probably teach more and
perform more often.
So, I hope you've enjoyed my work for LJ. Thanks for the reads, I've
enjoyed the writing.

Hey guys!
I am sure I am not the only who notices that CALF Vintage Delay does not
clean its buffer when you stop playing the tune in a sequencer. But just to
be sure,
here is a description of what happens.
1. You are in a sequencer (I personally worked in my first Linux days in
LMMS, today work mostly in Qtractor).
2. You use CALF Vintage Delay.
3. You stop the track in the middle.
4. When you put the playhead to the beginning of the tune and start to
play, CALF Vintage Delay will output leftovers from the previous position.
This is not only annoying, most of the time it is confusing and even
interferes with rendering a song.
I don't know if I am correctly calling it a "buffer", but obviously CALF
Vintage Delay does not clean up its memory after being stopped.
Can anyone look into this, please?

Hi Louigi,
Currently luppp's sync is like this:
-resampling to achieve loop lenghts that correspond with "bars" in music
terms.
-BPM is currently set to a value, but dynamically modifyable trough MIDI (&
GUI soon)
-Resampling means that the pitch of loops will go up / down depending on
playback speed
I've fixed the pitch issue using the SoundTouch library, however it
glitched & popped quite
a bit too much. Either a better implementation using SoundTouch, or else
I'm going to use
libRubberBand, which seems to be the more widely used timestretch library.
Due to the resample to "bars" code, if you record some material, but not to
precise bars lengths
it will be resampled (just a little bit) but will sound aweful in the
harmonic sense :(
