http://quitte.de/dsp/caps.html The latest release of the caps audio plugin suite contains a number of bug fixes and improvements as well as changes intended to make it more suitable for low-power systems. http://quitte.de/dsp/caps.html#CHANGES Most notably, support for a variety of little-used features has been dropped, reducing the binary size by roughly a third. Hi all, New images are ready for testing (amd64, i386) ;) io GNU/Linux is a Live DVD/USB based on Debian Sid and focused on multimedia. -> Kernel 4.9.10 and 4.9.10-rt, Jack2+PulseAudio as default sound server (can be easily changed to Jack2+AlsaLoop, Jack2+ZitaBridge, PulseAudio or Alsa) -> Enlightenment (e21) as desktop environment and a big collection of installed software... Failed to connect to session bus for device reservation

Hi Guys, I’m trying to set up a minimal audio system (without X11) based on the ubuntu mini-iso. When trying to start jack, i get this dbus error message: ... sudo /usr/bin/jackd -p512 -dalsa -r48000 -p64 -n2 -D -Chw:MADIFXtest -Phw:MADIFXtest jackdmp 1.9.10 Copyright 2001-2005 Paul Davis and others. Cannot initialize driver JackServer::Open failed with -1 Failed to open server ... I’ve seen others mention the error but have not really found a solution. I guess part of the problem is that I’m not really sure what the error means :-) So if anyone could be so kind to enlighten me? cheers, Fokke

need help mixing on the fly

For a couple years I've been trying, without success, to reliably mix two audio streams on the fly in C. I'm using libao, libmodplug, libsamplerate, libsndfile, and libvorbis. The program is Frotz (https://github.com/DavidGriffith/frotz), a Z-machine emulator for playing old Infocom games as well as newer ones. [ANN] Qtractor 0.8.1 - The Sticky Tauon is out!

Hello everybody! Qtractor 0.8.1 (sticky tauon) is out! Release highlights: * JACK Transport mode switching on main menu/tool-bar (NEW) * Main menu Track/Navigate/Next, Previous wrap around (FIX) * Auto-backward play-head position flip-flopping (FIX) * JACK Transport tempo/time-signature in-flight changes (FIX) * Sanitized audio clip zoom-in/out resolution (FIX) Obviously, this one dot bug-fix release and everyone is then compelled to upgrade. On the side, a couple of notes are also worthy of mention... Besides some other stray thoughts, you may be asking yourself, after reading those crappy release highlights above, what the heck that "in-flight" tempo / time-signature change-fix is all about? No stress. There's always a reason, as if reason won't ever prevail, above all else... So, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, should here be told: jack_link [8] is the dang reason. And then, you may now know and play the badass with Ableton Link [7]. Keep in mind that jack_link [7] is kind of a toy, so please, have it under a child's perspective ;) You can still play all along with your band fellows, don't get me wrong. You all have to be on the same machine or in the same local network segment (LAN) anyway, just like yours truly QmidiNet [9] does (and recommends). But that's probably one hell of a disparate story, although sharing the same networking concept... move along! Whatever. When in doubt, please ask me. Whenever you find yourself in despair, you can also ask me. But take note that I made no promises nor guarantees that it would ever work for you. And this goes as far as in any formal disclaimer can go. The hard truth is: your are on your own. But please, enjoy and have (lots of) fun while you're at it ;) As second note, this project has finally called in for its own vanity and internet domain name: qtractor.org [1]. Just a quick side note for people who are looking for the "paper" (main track) submission category on the submission page at https://lac2017.sciencesconf.org/: use "Conference". sciencesconf.org is a French site (the submission page is in English, though), and conférence in French means "talk" as well as "conference", so that's what the "papers" category is. This should be fairly obvious, but I stumbled onto this myself, so I thought I'd mentioned it for the non-French-speaking population here.
