[LAD] Mackie Control Display (mcpdisp) 0.0.2 released

I did all the things I should have done the first time :) mcpdisp (0.0.2) * Added fflush so we don't use repeating prinfs to flush * Added command to park cursor in lower right corner * Hide cursor! * Set application to start in the lower right screen corner * Control C now exits gracefully * Added changelog * Window close (X) closes jack port properly mcpdisp (0.0.1) * Initial release No, control Q or W do not quit. I have set up no keyboard input at all and won't in this state. TODO: - Rewrite with a GUI tool kit instead of using a terminal. - Allow stretching the window to match channels to control surface. - Use nicer colours. -- Len Ovens www.ovenwerks.net

Hi, F. Silvain Critisism is always welcome, thanks. The drummer and I (guitar) know we can be off tempo. Thats why we rehearse/record/play live always with metronom in the ear. Imagine that, otherwise it would be worse ;) Needless to say the bassist has a builtin metronom, he doesn't need the click in the ear. Once we challenged him: We told him to clap a tempo, say 105 bpm. He first started clapping, then I turned on the metronom at 105 bpm and he was perfectly in sync with it. Same at 85, 97 and 128 bpm! Crazy. I forbid him to move away after his studies and til now he's obedient :) As for the sounds, we purposely mix sounds and genres together but it somehow always boils down to rock stuff :(. At sometime I'll put the guitar aside for some songs and only do electro sounds, or wait: When GuitarSynth is there where I want it (polyphony) the rock will go, the electro will come ... [LAD] [ANN] Vee One Suite 0.6.3 - A sixth beta release

[UPDATE] As a micro dot release override, the current sixth beta release is out and crunching the earlier fifth to oblivion ;) Howdy, The 'Vee One Suite' of 'old-school' software instruments, aka. the 'gang of three' have bumped over another tiny notch: synthv1 [1], as one polyphonic synthesizer, samplv1 [2], a polyphonic sampler and drumkv1 [3], as one drum-kit sampler, are now being released to the masses. Again ;) There's no big audible changes, if any at all, yet this fifth beta release is rather a probable bug fix drumkv1 LV2 on Ardour. Anyway, it's all gone as follows: - Sample file drag-and-drop support has been added to the note element list widget (drumkv1 [3] only). - Main widget layout changed as much to allow sampler display and element list to expand or grow vertically as needed (samplv1 [2] and drumkv1 [3]). - Sample file path mapping has been fixed for LV2 plugin state restoration, which were preventing Ardour to reload any of the saved session or preset sample files in particular (drumkv1 [3] only). - Custom knob/dial behavior mode options are now introduced: linear and angular (aka. radial) as far to avoid abrupt changes on first mouse click (still the default behavior). - Fixed for some strict tests for Qt4 vs. Qt5 configure builds. We're still available in dual form, as business as usual: - a pure stand-alone JACK [4] client with JACK-session, NSM [5] (Non Session management) and both JACK MIDI and ALSA [6] MIDI input support; - a LV2 [7] instrument plug-in. Enough to tell, the Vee One Suite are free and open-source Linux Audio software, distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) [8] version 2 or later. [LAD] Integer performance

Just a curious thought... If you are using only small values is there really any benefit in using chars and shorts rather than just using integers everywhere and letting the compiler sort it out? Also, would bool actually have an extra cost due to masking needs? [LAD] strategies for mixing streams of differing channel counts

Could I get some ideas and advice on the subject of reconciling two streams with different channel layouts? Going from mono to stereo is straightforward: make a stereo stream with both channels carrying the same data. Mixing a one or two channel stream with 5.1 or 7.1 also seems fairly clear: the audio goes to the front left and right channels. Is this line of thinking solid? What I don't understand is how to reconcile 5.1 audio with 7.1? Which two of the four side and rear channels of 7.1 should receive the two rear channels of 5.1? Also, should mono streams be mapped to the center channel of 5.1/7.1? I understand that the chances of someone writing a game that would go beyond stereo are rather slim, but I'd rather not risk having someone write a game that won't run on other Z-machines, but not mine.
