[ANN] Vee One Suite 0.9.13 - A QStuff* Spring'20 Release batch #2

Greetings once more, The 'Vee One Suite' of so called 'old-school' software instruments, synthv1 [1] as a polyphonic subtractive synthesizer, samplv1 [2] a polyphonic sampler synthesizer, drumkv1 [3] as yet another drum-kit sampler and padthv1 [4] as a polyphonic additive synthesizer, are all being released now for the second 'QStuff*' Spring'20 batch of the (quarantine) season. All still available in dual form deliveries: - a pure stand-alone JACK client with JACK-session [5], NSM (Non Session management [6]) and both JACK MIDI and ALSA MIDI [7] input support; - a LV2 instrument plug-in [8]. Not much of a ravishing change-log, just on the brink of utterly boring maintenance stuff: - Always keep the current sample loop-cycle on note-off, while entering a DCA Release stage. (applies to samplv1 [2] only) - Maximum pitch-bend range has been expanded to 0..400%, allegedly to support some PME driven instruments. - Make man page compression reproducible (after request by Jelle van der Waa, thanks). - Fixed crash when showing the tooltip of a negative note number that results from dragging over and beyond the left edge of the virtual piano keyboard. - Remove -v (verbose) flag from 'strip' post-link command. - Fixed CMake build by adding missing Custom Color Theme (palette) form file (.ui). - Bumped copyright headers into the New Year (2020). linuxaudio.org maintenance 2020-03-29

Dear all, Today I'd like to perform maintenance on the linuxaudio.org web server around 20:00 CEST. Maintenance comprises moving from GlusterFS storage to disk storage in order to improve performance of the web server. GlusterFS seemed promising but through time we came to realize it's not optimal for our situation. Maintenance will take approx. 3 hours. During that period the sites hosted on the web server won't be reachable as I'd like to shut down all services before doing a final rsync. Thanks for your understanding. Best regards, Jeremy

Greetings, just one third time! Qtractor 0.9.13 (spring'20) is released! Change-log: - All meters background color are now customize-able (cf. View/Options.../Display/Meters, color level "Back"). - Automatic mixer grid layout (multi-row) is now in effect permanently--being an option no more. - Always show plugins and meters on track list/left pane as permanent standard now. - LV2 UI Request-value feature/interface support has been implemented. - Audio output monitoring meters are now shown/hidden auto-magically on MIDI tracks and/or buses--no need for some user preference option anymore (ie. View/Options.../Plugins/Instruments/Show audio output monitoring meters, is now gone). - Default track height has been slightly increased. - Track / Duplicate Track... now also takes a MIDI track's audio meters setting into account. - VST3 plug-in support introduced. (EXPERIMENTAL) - Fixed first bar/measure position drawing on the time-scale/grid across time-signature changes on the MIDI clip editor (aka. piano-roll) (hopefully fixing issue #245). - Plugins and meters on track list/left pane, are now being set on as default--maybe going stapled in some near future ;) - Make man page compression reproducible (after request by Jelle van der Waa, while on the Vee-Ones, thanks). - Avoid resetting top or left position when zooming with mouse pointer is in main tracks or MIDI clip editor (piano-roll) views. - Make libaubio a build dependency on Debian/Ubuntu; also fix cross-build check to sizeof(float). - Bumped copyright headers into the New Year (2020). New AMB plugins

Hello all, Two new sets of AMB plugins are available at <http://kokkinizita.linuxaudio.org/linuxaudio/downloads/index.html> AMB1-plugins: First order panners, Z-axis rotation, and dominance. HOA3-plugins: Third order panners, Z-axis rotation, converters for SN3D to/from N3D and FuMa. See the README for details. All of them now use the 'Ambix' format and gains (except of course the convertors at the non-SN3D side). Ambix format uses ACN channel order, as does Ambdec. So e.g. Ardour master outputs will be in the same order as Ambdec inputs, but channel numbers are offset by 1, for example: Ardour master Ambdec input ---------------------------- 1 in.0 (W) 2 in.1 (Y) 3 in.2 (Z) 4 in.3 (X) If you use these with Ambdec, don't forget to check the 'Input scaling' in the configuration dialog. This should be set to 'SN3D'. If necessary, change, apply and optionally save the preset. -- FA

QmidiCtl [5] is a MIDI remote controller application that sends MIDI data over the network, using UDP/IP multicast. Inspired by multimidicast [15] and designed to be compatible with ipMIDI [15] for Windows. QmidiCtl [5] was long ago designed for the Maemo [17] enabled handheld devices, namely the late Nokia N900 [18] and promoted to the Maemo Package [18] repositories. pajackconnect v1.0 released

I just noticed to day that I never have done a proper release for pajackconnect. I use it since 3 years every day, mostly without notice it at all. Hi, I am trying to detect port connection and deconnection, using a callback function, thus: void JackPortInfo::connectionJackCallback(jack_port_id_t a, jack_port_id_t b, int connect, void* arg) // deceard as static { qDebug() << "JackPortInfo::connectionJackCallback()"; } bool JackPortInfo::initPortCallback() { int check; if ((check = jack_set_port_connect_callback(client, connectionJackCallback, this))) qDebug() << "check: " << check; } I call initPortCallback() just after jack_client_open(...) and it returns NULL, so this part looks OK. However, connectionJackCallback is not called when I start/stop Audacity. What am I overlooking? Sigmund.

Berkley DB requirement

Hi I was wondering why properties do not work in Fedora, but the package does not build with DB. I just wanted to make sure that properties are dependent on Berkley DB. There is no alternative systemd or other things that I would have missed that would make properties to work ? (and by the way if there is an introduction on how to setup Jack2 in any IDE that would be great.) Thanks Bruno

wiki.linuxaudio.org mostly fixed again

Dear all, The linuxaudio.org wiki is almost fully functional again. It was a real pain to update it to a more recent version and to get the plugins to work again with PHP7. Editing is still a bit of a chore, somehow you don't return to the page after hitting save, but it seems to work. Please check it out and if you have any ideas for improvements or if you run into bugs please let me know. Best, Jeremy
