I just upgraded my LFS 6.1 system from 2.6.12 (with preempt, but not the -rt patch) to 2.6.15-rt (enabling high resolution timers and PREEMPT_RT along the way), and now my audio driver is dropping interrupts every few seconds, something it wasn't doing before. I haven't configured rtlimits since the program runs as root anyway, and I'd like it to be free to hog quite a lot if need be. In my application (which runs in SCHED_FIFO), the audio thread runs at -10, while the video thread runs at -19. I don't know if that is best, I just wanted them to be higher than the other threads. Also, outside forces, like a ssh connection, or a USB dongle connection cause the program to drop audio madly. Is there some code I need to be adding to force such system tasks down rather than just elevating my own application? -- Joshua D. Well, it bothered me you didn't even reply with a simple "not interested". Wanted to provide some hooks for Ico to say something about what the consortium is and isn't about. hi everyone! just fyi, the amount of spam in the moderation queues has risen to such an extent that the server admin, douglas repetto of columbia university, has implemented an auto-clear function for the queues. that means: if your message is not forwarded to the list, it will be dead, gone and forgotten. this happens either if you are using a non-subscribed address to post (regardless of whether you are subscribed with another account, even if it's in the same domain, i.e. if j(a)example.com is legitimate, j(a)dork.example.com will bounce), or if mailman determines you are posting html. due to a misunderstanding, this auto-nuking has been active on linux-audio-announce as well for the past couple of days. so if you tried to get an announcement out, please resend - the old one went straight to the bit bucket. regards, jörn -- jörn nettingsmeier home://germany/45128 essen/lortzingstr. 11/ http://spunk.dnsalias.org phone://+49/201/491621 if you are a free (as in "free speech") software developer and you happen to be travelling near my home, drop me a line and come round for a free (as in "free beer") beer. :-D

[linux-audio-dev] LV2 draft spec update

http://lv2plug.in/spec/ Some more work has been done recently, but I think I forgot to tell this mailing list. The most notable change is the inclusion of a port hint to indiciate that connections to that port are optional. This has never been a part of LADSPA, though it was discussed. It's included because it makes it possible to have plugin that can use certain port type extension, but dont require them. Eg. a plugin that can use MIDI data, but doesn't require it. If the plugin marks the MIDI port as lv2:optionalConnection then hosts can tell by inspection that it can still load and use the plugin, even if it doesn't support/want to use the MIDI extension. The LV2 spec is approaching finalisation now. We have two independent host impletmentions, and several that share some code, there are lots of plugins, some using extensions and some using vanialla LV2. If people want to comment opn the late drafts now would be a good time, as I imagine that the final spec will look a lot like whats there unless people find problems. - Steve
