Hey Iain, First off: Im not answering your initial question because I just dont know the answer. What I can tell you is that I've used PyGtk as a GUI for a Midi handling program, and that it starts to "lag" very quickly. (Im not a "good" programmer, but I'm fairly sure I didnt have a *>>> sleep (100) * in the main loop!) I'd link to that MIDI program, only I can't seem to get the PyJack module working ATM (strange kernel..!) so I cant test it to make sure its ok. Ill see if it wants to work in the next couple of days, Ill send a link here then. Especially since your talking about timing, as I'm sure you know, Python is *not *the way to go for speed (read: low latency & good timing.)
