Realisticly it has to run as a mutithreaded process.
With this I agree. Simpler is better, and this is not simple to do
generically. I propose we leave this until such time as it actually becomes
important. We can always add and extend later. I think there is enough
sense on this discussion to NOT make extensions into a mess like too many
commercial products :)
