You either love it or hate it. Probably a matter of personal taste.
Depends on the type of sound you're after. Rhythm or lead etc.
Here's a funny irony: As we were discussing JCM900, my friend
just dropped of his real JCM900 head for repair!

About the JCM900 vst: It occurred to me that it
sounds like it a simulation of *both* the amp and
some sort of 4x12 cabinet, but they don't seem to mention
the cabinet. Does that seem correct?
I mean, I can't see feeding it into a cab sim at this point.
But still, the sim itself is a really good simulation of the JCM900,
(and cabinet?) whether you like them or not...

That must be a real good plugin then because most people agree also that
the JCM900 is the worst amp of the JCM series (except for the SLX
edition) and some even argue it's one of the worst Marshall standard
tube-amps ever made ;) Glad I sold mine years ago. But you got me
curious as I don't use VST's either.

Silly me! I missed a piece of the puzzle. The C* Cabinet plugins.
I was supposed to put a cabinet after the amp.
Sounds even better now!

I have mostly been using SimulAnalog's famous JCM900 VST
dll plugin under dssi-vst. (I do wish they would open-source those
plugs!)

I didn't use VSTs when recording with Linux, but the web says, this VST
