hold ctrl, and the movement becomes an order of magnitude finer-grained.
It works really well.

In MusE I use the mouse wheel to edit both sliders and knobs. I find it to be
superior to clicking and dragging. Sort of a poor mans control surface.
Ctrl+wheel is used for more finegrained operation.
