Thanks for embracing the ffado project so fast,

Maybe the firewire backend option is not something to release just yet.
It's option set hasn't converged yet, and most likely they are going to
change. So in order to avoid version/maintenance issues it might be
better not to release it yet. Normally this will be resolved in a month
or two.
Greets,
Meanwhile, I believe there's no big problem about keeping it as is. I've
just forwarded a plain patch sent (today) from Klaus Zimmermann. Below
you can find his motivations, on qjackctl-devel:
No problem for me :). It's
just that you might end up having to check
the jack version to know what option letters are recognized and what
they mean.

Hi all, hi Rui,
great work!
The freebob project (that supported firewire devices for some time
now) has slightly shifted focus.
It has a new name, "ffado" (
http://www.ffado.org), and also supports
not only bridgeco bebop devices, but firewire audio in general.
Hence there is also a new jack backend called "firewire".
The attached patch adds support for this to qjackctl. It should be
noted, that ffado is still very beta. However, since it can coexist
with freebob I see no reason not to support.
So enjoy,
Klaus
Cheers.
