It's an eMac with no known Linux drivers for the (fake) network card

Well well, all that was asked for was somewhere to register a SIP

Hi Jens!
I don't have a real solution to your problem. But would it be an option to
use googletalk? This should be accessible from all systems via the online-app
or via some jingle-capable clients. Might this help?
Kindest regards
Julien

I hear that broadvoice offers sip access with subscription, as well as
other services like a voice mailbox for a real phone number that can
forward attached messages to your email. This is a paid service,
though.
