Is there some sane reason for not just using a turntable preamp? The
phono signal level is quite low and i'm assuming recording it as line

You use a preamp but its flat rather than RIAA. Then you de-noise,
and de-click and then apply your pink noise "corrected" RIAA filter to
the end result.
