Guys, since we started to speak about MIDI
standards, I wondered about
an issue I came upon in Linux.
It seems that on Linux midi applications differentiate between knobs
and sliders. So if you try to attach a knob of the
soft synth to a slider of a midi keyboard, it will not work. On
Windows it does not matter and moving a slider would just
move the knob.
What is this all about?
A few moments ago I mapped the sliders on my BCF2000 to the knobs on
Nick Dowell's amSynth. They worked perfectly, the knobs on the synth
move in sync with the sliders on the BCF.

There's no difference between knobs and sliders, but as I've written
before, not every hardware can map a CC to another CC or map a CC to
short SysEx command. An app is needed for mapping CCs to other CCs and
mapping CCs to SysEx commands.
