That broke a few packages in the AUR. I was eventually able to successfully compile and
run by brute force
suppressing two of the most relevant warnings:
make CFLAGS="-Wno-incompatible-pointer-types
-Wno-deprecated-declarations"
I build it with -std=gnu17
