Note pulseaudio interferes with Advanced Gtk+
Sequencer to
achieve best results I even recommend WindowMaker as desktop or any
minimal window manager of your choice.

look at a screencast I just made this morning on Google+
The project features a wiki with some programming howtos and explanation
of internals.
