fast rise time 'absolute peak' type of meter. Depending on
the job at hand, a user may prefer another response that is
closer to the subjective sound level.
IEC-268 is a peak meter, so its rise time should be as fast as possible -
the decay time is very slow, but I foget what it is.
There are other meters that have slow-rise and/or subjective volume
readings, eg. A-weighting.
