I've made drum sounds with spiralsynthmodular, there is a track here:

You can drive it with seq24 via midi.
I know there is the syndrum plugin in the cmt library,
though I
haven't been able to get any sound out of it.
I could never get this to work either, although I couldn't see that there was
anything that wrong looking at the source. It might just be really picky about
it's input values.
