I think there are some counter examples, eg. Reich's phase music? How
about african polyrhythms? I'm not sure but I dont think the time unit is

it is with african music for all i know, and with steve reich's
music, it is simply many, but still integral, rhythmns at the same
time.

Seriously, there are good technical reasons for
representing everything
you can with floats.
just as there's good reasons to represent things like 1/3 with
fractions, right?
