Provided the scale points for a continuous control
correspond to the integer
values, then we could use HINT_ENUMERATED without HINT_INTEGER. There would
be a string for each integer value in the port range. Some could be NULL
if required.
i think steve's objection that we also want to map non-integer values
to labels is valid.
