In the comercial windows world, FX-Teleport and VST System Link are doing
exactly this.
I think jack over ethernet could be as easy as writing
a pseudo alsa driver
that emulates a soundcard but sends/receives UDP packets over ethernet.
Okay nice. I'm going to set up a list etc this week, or at least start a new
thread ;)
