My jackd manpage states that the default frames/period
setting is 1024, which
means that for a frame rate of 44100 Hz, I'm around 44 periods by second, which

Well ... Currently I work with 32 samples at 48K, which has the
advantage of being RT playable in a Detroit clavinet funky style. The
default setting is perhaps intended for mp3 players and such?
