Cubase SX 2.0 has the same functionality built in. Not sure whose idea it
was first.
ardour had this functionality before SX was released :)
IMHO, the interesting part of it is not the "freeze" thing. its
wrapping a plugin in another plugin and then proxying for the wrapped
plugin via a cache.
