Exactly. However, the existance of a large number of patents has a
chilling effect on innovation, exactly the opposite of what patents
are supposed to achieve.
Personally, I hope microsoft and all the other patent happy bozos
end up overwhelming the USPTO so that the whole thing collapses
under its own weight.
