For two years (or somethings), people have complained about the bad
performance of the jack system. And I don't think it has been solved. I
dont know about alsa; and doesn't understand the driver-code, so it was
easier for me just to reimplement jack.
I've not heard of anyone complaining about the bad performance of jack
compared to any other API (baring bugs). Where are these people hanging
out? Perhaps they should file bug reports.
The only system I have the performs badly under jack performs just as
badly under OSS and ALSA.
