Right; eXtended from what...? (There never was an API by the name
"AP" before this one.)
The X could be amorphous. X stands for
eXtended, eXtreme, eXtensible, eXcellent, or my personal favorite
XAP. XAP = XAP Audio Plugin
eXtreme! :-D
