I might be wrong, but doesn't there have to be HW and alsa driver support
for using multichannel card like Revolution to be for instance 8xmono ?
I'd be happy to find the owner of this card to have experience on this or to
try this out...

Use Jack. Assuming you have enough channels you can do whatever you
want with them. 8xmono, 4xstereo, 2x4-channel-surround, etc. etc.
