Yes, streams. mp3 or ogg. although the actual players' stream and a
separate listeners stream might have different needs regarding
bandwidth..
For p2p, peercast (http://www.peercast.org/) is a
broadcasting p2p
application that may be usefull for your project.
At the moment I was thinking along the lines of using icecast for
streaming, since that does not need anybody to download YAMP (Yet Another
Media Player)
