USB cards
often work a lot better (allow much smaller buffer sizes)
when used with 3 periods instead of 2 when Fs = 48 kHz. Apparently
having a total buffer size that is a multiple of 48 helps.
I can confirm that by trial and error experiments.
Same here. Somewhere I read ALSA USB works better if the buffer is an
integer number of milliseconds long (hence the 48 KHz, n * 48 frames
buffers).
